Athletics is an ancient sport where athletes must perform individually or in groups (via relays).
Athletics is practised both on the road, in the field and on an athletics track. Athletics is sometimes called "the mother of sports" because it includes basic human movements (running, jumping, throwing).
Athletics tracks are usually oval shaped with an indoor track 400 metres long. On the middle court, throwing and jumping events are practised. There are tracks made of grass, cinders or plastic.
This sport has been practised within the deaf sports world since 1924.
