Since 1977, the Fédération Francophone des Sourds de Belgique has federated a network of associations active in the field of deafness. We are the voice of these associations and of our deaf and hard-of-hearing members. Through our awareness-raising activities with political authorities and the public, we promote and defend their rights to information and socio-professional integration. We bring their demands to the national and international political stage in a network with our partners, including :

     UNIA - The Interfederal Centre for Equal Opportunities, unia.be
     BDF - the Belgian Disability Forum, bdf.belgium.be
     EUD - European Union of Deaf, eud.eu
     WFD - World Federation of Deaf, wfdeaf.org

It is also with the support of these organisations that we ensure that the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is applied in Belgium. As we are recognised by the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles as an association for lifelong education, we seek through our actions to enable deaf, hard-of-hearing and hearing people to become responsible and active citizens in society. This approach is the common thread running through all our projects.DF
