Billiards is a game in which a long, thin wooden stick, the cue, is used to play balls in a rectangular container with low edges, the billiard table. The tip of the cue can only be used to hit the ball, which in turn must hit other balls.
There are different forms of billiards. In Dutch "biljart" without any further indication is mostly understood as carom billiards, where three billiard balls are played and the play ball has to hit the other two balls; there are several types of games within carom billiards, such as libre, bandstoten, three-round and frame games.
