2e Europees Kampioenschap Padel is succesvol verlopen
di. 2 jun. Belgium won the silver medal in both the women’s and men’s events!
The European Padel Championships went off without a hitch, thanks in particular to the expertise of the organising committee, chaired by Lieven Kind, with Kurt Van Dam as secretary and tournament director, David Grammenidis (public relations), who secured major sponsors for the Championships, and David Dessaint and his network within the padel community.

The support of around twenty volunteers throughout the week was also vital, as was the outstanding work of the media team, led by Remy Lemaire and photographer Patrick Raeymaeckers, which enabled everyone to follow the matches remotely.  Over 21,000 viewers watched the 20 matches on YouTube (an average of 1,000 per match). On site, Thursday and Saturday were the busiest days, with over 200 spectators on each day.
The final day went off without a hitch, with COIB President J-M Saive in attendance at the women’s final, and a flawlessly organised medal ceremony and closing ceremony, followed by a magnificent gala evening.

Saturday 16 May 2026 - Finals – medal ceremony & Closing Ceremony
Italy crowned champions: thrilling finals for the European titles!

The European Championships came to a spectacular close on Saturday 16 May, with high-quality and unforgettable finals.
In the women’s final (attended by COIB President J-M Saive), Italy confirmed their status as favourites by beating Belgium (the host nation) 2-0 to win the European title.

The men’s final was a much closer contest. Belgium, with a strong and strategic team, had a unique opportunity to become European champions on home soil. However, Italy showed resilience and experience and ultimately clinched the gold medal after a decisive third match. Thanks to these results, Italy claimed two gold medals, whilst Belgium can be proud of their fine performance in front of their home crowd, taking home two silver medals.

Friday 15 May 2026 - Sweden versus Belgium for the bronze medal
Bronze medals awarded: Sweden secures a double!

On Friday 15 May, Sweden faced the Netherlands in the bronze medal matches for both the men’s and women’s teams.

In the men’s competition, Sweden secured the bronze medal with a 2-1 victory, whilst in the women’s competition, they claimed a convincing 2-0 win, thereby securing their second bronze medal.

Now that the bronze medals have been awarded, all eyes are on the finals on Saturday 16 May, when Italy will face Belgium (the host nation) in both the men’s and women’s competitions.
