BDC learned of Simonne's passing. Simonne was a former member of D.N.V. Lier and a member of Piramime. She was a wonderful sportswoman whose passion was tennis.
She was one of the last survivors who participated in the 1953 Deaflympics in Brussels (mixed doubles and singles).
We had her among us at the BDC Award Ceremony on 25/01/2025, where she was honoured for her participation in the 1953 Deaflympics.
She also won one national title in 1951 for women's doubles and was runner-up many times in doubles and singles.
We will miss her and wish her daughter Vicky and family much strength during this difficult time.
