The now 19-year-old Leendert Desmet is in full preparation for his participation in the 25th edition of the Deaflympics in Tokyo (Japan). Under the expert guidance of his trainer Renée De Cramer & Hubert Backs (Thor Torhout), he is working purposefully to improve his times.

Meanwhile, he has managed to improve the Belgian swimming record no less than 19 times in total within the Deaf Sports Federation.
