Leendert Desmet begint goed aan een nieuw sportjaar 2026
wo. 18 feb. In full preparation for the European Championships in Freiburg (Germany) in October 2026, Leendert breaks two Belgian swimming records once again.
At the annual Sprint Meeting on 14 February 2026 in the Lago swimming pool Bruges, Leendert competed in a number of short swimming disciplines, which are not his strongest point.

He took part in the 50 m freestyle, 50 m backstroke and 50 m butterfly.

He set no fewer than two Belgian records.
He achieved the first record in the 50 m freestyle, a record that had been held by Koen Adriaenssens for more than 30 years (!), with a time of 26.58.
He improved the Belgian record with a time of 26.03.

Leendert achieved his second record in the 50 m butterfly, with a time of 27.98, beating the British record he set one year earlier at the same meeting (28.29).

Congratulations on these new records, Leendert.
