Emmanuel, member of K.S.V.S. Gent and later founder-secretary of S.V.G. Aalst-Denderstreek, played a very important role for the deaf football world, both in Belgium and Europe or for the Deaflympics.
Since 1974 he was on the board of the Federation's football committee where he became secretary in 1978 and remained until
2005 as well as for Futsal from 1998 to 2005.
But within European Deaf Sport Organisation (E.D.S.O.), he played an even bigger role as Technical Director from 1992 to 2005 plus Futsal from 2002 to 2005 and at I.C.S.D. from 1993 to 2005 for football.
It is through him that European Deaf Sport Organization has an agreement with UEFA that financially supports many projects such as
the Deaf Champions League (D.C.L.), training for referees and others.
In 2005, he was awarded the Gold Medal of Merit I.C.S.D. when he had to stop his duties due to health reasons.
With us, in 1978 he became treasurer Nederlandstalige Doven Sportbond and president since 1985 until 1997.
He also became president of the Federation from 1988 to 1997 of which he had been a director since 1984. From 1997 to 1999, he was vice-president.
