Emiel Schippers has been an active tennis player from a young age. He is now being expertly trained to become a tennis promise at the Limburg Tennis Academy in Maaseik. There, he is building a bright promising future within tennis, as he won the title as Flemish champion in the -15 age group in 2023!
This did not go unnoticed as the BDC was able to convince him to take his chance at the upcoming European Championships, which will take place 22 to 29 June 2024 in Villach (Austria). There he will compete for Belgium at both the Youth Championship and the Senior Championship.
Emiel Schippers will be coached by his trainer Luc Clauwers. Jan Van den Braembussche will also be present as BDC sports representative.
Belgium has a rich tennis history within deaf sports, as our founder Antoine Dresse was also once a top tennis player. Claude Biernaux, Michel Francois, Charles Van Laer, Antonine & Germaine Maere, Josette Robinson, Nathalie Wathelet, Frederic Soeur, etc... could stand out for Belgium at international level.
